The mission of the Hanson Memorial High School library is to provide resources that will enable students to become effective users of information, developing a pattern of lifelong learning and fostering a love of reading.

Among the many resources available for our students is the Accelerated Reader program, a computerized reading and management program.

World Book Online allows access to various research tools, including, but not limited to citation builder, how to do research, and my research (where the student can save the research he has done).  Includes access to the encyclopedia, a dictionary, an atlas, current periodicals, videos and much more.  Web site is kept current and up-to-date.

  • Reading is perhaps the strongest correlate to academic success from pre-K through
post-secondary education.  Accelerated Reader (AR) is incorporated at Hanson to hone reading acuity.   A computer assessment tool on reading comprehension is incorporated, where students select a book from an extensive list, read it, and then take a quiz on the computer.  Immediate feedback is given through a TOPS report showing the student’s progress; this instrument allows for immediate intervention where needed.
